Nils Koppen masterclass could end up ‘banking Rangers millions’
Rangers have had a poor season and find themselves miles away from Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership with 13 points separating the sides.
With the title race seemingly out of the question even though we’re only just past the halfway point of the campaign, there has been plenty of criticism directed at both Philippe Clement and the Gers hierarchy for where the side finds themselves.
Although the Light Blues picked up a 3-0 win against Aberdeen on Wednesday (15 January), supporters made their feelings towards those at the top known with a banner expressing that second place is unacceptable.
Furthermore, the Union Bears supporter group staged a silent protest in their win against St Johnstone, performing a walkout during the game.
While there seems to be plenty of choices backfiring on those at Ibrox, one decision made by Nils Koppen in the summer could prove to be fruitful for the Scottish Premiership side.
Nils Koppen could bank Rangers millions with Clinton Nsiala transfer
Since arriving on a free transfer from AC Milan ahead of the current season, Clinton Nsiala has seen his game time limited under Clement.
However, the defender has been called up to the starting line-up of late having made three appearances for the Gers now amid a defensive injury crisis.
After another 90 minutes against Aberdeen and a clean sheet for the Light Blues, Leon Balogun was keen to praise his defensive teammate after the game as he told Sky Sports (15 January): “Clinton has done extremely well. He was really, really good today. Hats off to the boy.”

It was unexpected to see the 20-year-old step up at this stage but the fact he is being chosen repeatedly shows his boss must be pleased with what he is delivering for his side.
Therefore, Nsiala has the opportunity to prove his abilities in the Scottish Premiership now while Koppen can surely have one eye on the future in the hope that he can cash in on the free transfer too which would increase the club’s ability to strengthen the squad on the whole in the future.
