Rangers ‘to seal Cyriel Dessers and six other exits’ in transfer window
Rangers would sell Cyriel Dessers and six others in an ideal transfer window, Chris Jack says.
The Rangers Review journalist believes that if the Gers had their way, the Nigerian striker would be the main candidate to leave Ibrox before the 3 February deadline.
Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence, Kieran Dowell, Leon King, Alex Lowry and Adam Devine could also be on the chopping block as the Light Blues look to trim their wage bill.
Speaking on The Rangers Review (15 January), Jack said: “Dessers is obviously the main one, but I think you can throw Matondo in there, Lawrence, Dowell. Further down, you can throw King in that bracket.
“There are players, and that’s before you get into Devine and Lowry and some of the younger guys, who will have to move on as well. There’s probably half a dozen or so there that if they had an ideal transfer window… they would get that six out of the door to bring the wage bill down.”
Rangers transfer exodus on cards at Ibrox
Dessers is seemingly the obvious choice to depart the Glaswegian outfit, considering his fall from grace at Ibrox in recent weeks.
The 30-year-old has gone down in the pecking order and has found minutes hard to come by, with Hamza Igamane and Danilo thriving.
Matondo is someone who has been a key squad member over the years, but his injury issues have been frustrating, with a loan exit now close (Daily Record).
Rangers seem to have found their balance in the attack, with the likes of Vaclav Cerny, Nedim Bajrami and Ianis Hagi thriving over the last few months.
As a result, the Belgian manager has hardly needed Dowell or the injured Lawrence, and it would be ideal for all parties involved to sanction their exit.

On the other hand, King has failed to make the team despite the injury crisis in defence, and Clinton Nsiala has been relied upon instead.
It’s easy to identify the players who need to leave, but sanctioning their transfers is a different matter, and the Light Blues need to exercise caution when doing so to get the best deal possible.
They will need the money to reinforce other positions in the squad.
