Lyall Cameron exit twist emerges as Rangers hunt ‘fantastic’ deal
Rangers could be moving closer to signing Lyall Cameron despite Dundee offering him a new contract, according to Rangers Review.
The established Gers platform (14 January) has revealed Cameron, 22, has been offered new terms by his boyhood club, but is anticipated to leave Dens Park whether that be during the winter transfer window or next summer when his current contract expires.
Philippe Clement’s side are not expected to be too busy with arrivals in the current window but could add Cameron at a bargain price, with the playmaker scoring five goals and claiming four assists in the Scottish Premiership this season.
As quoted by RR, Dundee boss Tony Docherty described Cameron as a “fantastic, absolutely brilliant” player, and admitted it comes as little surprise that clubs have circled the Scottish Under-21 international.

Despite Cameron potentially being available on a free transfer next summer should he not sign a new deal at Dundee, a move in this case would require a compensation package due to his age.
It would be the same issue which marred the transfer of Connor Barron from Aberdeen to Rangers last summer, with the Dons going to court over a tribunal settlement.
It could, all in all, be within the Gers’ interest to capture Cameron during the current window and pay a transfer fee which could be cut-price due to his contractual situation.
Cameron’s availability is clearly achievable with Docherty conceding his anticipation at outside interest, and a move to Ibrox is likely to be massively appealing to the player himself.
The midfielder has already surpassed 100 first-team games for Dundee, winning the Scottish Championship title at Dens Park in 2022-23.
