Clement sack: Rangers fans ‘tearing hair out’ ahead of Aberdeen – Keith Jackson

Keith Jackson still believes Philippe Clement’s role at Rangers is coming to an “inevitable end” ahead of a clash against Aberdeen on Wednesday.

The Gers are 16 points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table before the match at Ibrox on 15 January, and pressure is building on the boardroom to act.

Aberdeen have been known to cause an upset, even during the Belgian’s short reign in Scotland, and supporters will be even more vocal if the Light Blues are to lose at home against the Dons.

Speaking via the Daily Record’s Hotline Live [14 January], Jackson said: “I think there will be Rangers fans tearing their hair out because I keep coming back to where we’ve been for a while now – I feel there is still an inevitable end.

“I wonder what happens at Ibrox tomorrow night [v Aberdeen]. That is a notoriously difficult difficult fixture, the winter visit of Aberdeen to Ibrox has thrown up incidents and cost managers jobs before.”

Rangers versus Aberdeen could be end of the line for Clement

The Rangers boardroom may have no other choice but to sack the manager if his side come up short against the Dons on Wednesday night, though history suggests this is very possible.

However, Jimmy Thelin’s side are now without a win in 11 matches and have slipped down to fourth in the Scottish Premiership table, having once been competing at the top with Celtic.

Supporters have already given up on the idea of catching their rivals in the race for the league title, but the current situation is just a matter of principle, with everyone frustrated by what is happening at Ibrox.

The Union Bears made their feelings very well known during the 3-1 win over St Johnstone last time out, staging a mass walkout in the 55th minute, and that same thing could happen much earlier in this game.

Patrick Stewart needs to start listening to the fans around him who have loved the club all their life, but in the end, he holds the power and will be telling them what he has decided to do.

In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen have planned for a defender’s loan, with six clubs lining up for his signature.
