Rangers could now seal multiple new transfers before 3 February
Rangers could seal multiple new signings by utilising the loan and free markets at Ibrox, Dan Plumley has said.
The finance expert admits that using those markets rather than splashing the cash on a permanent signing could see their money spread out before the 3 February deadline.
Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen are currently looking for a new defender (Rangers Review), with possible sales boosting the chances of new arrivals.
“It does do that,” Plumley exclusively told Ibrox News when asked about spreading the budget.
“I think that is the most likely outcome, and you see a lot of clubs do this, especially in January.
“They will look to short-term deals or loans and you can maybe add up to three players to your squad for the cost of one permanent player.
“As always, it comes down to where they are on the pitch right now as a club, and we’ve talked about this below and what we saw in the latest set accounts to where they are in the table.
Rangers to seal multiple new transfers
“We know that the club are actively seeking investment as well, so as we’re speaking right now, it seems more likely that any movement in during this window will be loans and free agents, but that does create the opportunity to bring more bodies in rather than one chunky permanent signing.”

With conflict in the stands, several investor loans and a lack of external investment, it looks like Rangers will have to do it the hard way this month – and the cheap way.
Koppen will be working hard to get deals over the line, but the likes of Cyriel Dessers, Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo are great examples of what is not needed as they creep towards the exit.
