Rangers development unacceptable as Philippe Clement sack claim made
Keith Jackson believes Philippe Clement has led to a “gradual erosion of standards” during his time at Rangers.
The Belgian is hanging on by a thread at Ibrox as the Union Bears group staged a mass walkout in the 55th-minute of the 3-1 win against St Johnstone on Sunday (12 January) in protest of the Gers boss and those higher up.
Clement has lost all trust among a lot of supporters, and journalist Jackson, speaking on Daily Record Sport’s Hotline Live (13 January, 3:29), claims his presence has led to deteriorating standards at Rangers.
He said: “There’s a gradual erosion of standards that’s manifested all across the club. In what parallel universe did you ever think you would exist in where being 15 points behind Celtic in January in the league is not a sackable offence?
“And that speaks to the degrading of standards because that simply should not in any circumstances be deemed acceptable by anyone at Rangers, and yet, here we are.”
Philippe Clement is destroying Rangers
Rangers are in grave danger of becoming the undisputed number two side in Scotland if the die hasn’t already been cast.
Clement has a remarkable knack for pulling a monumental result out of his back pocket, similar to the 3-0 win against Celtic at Ibrox on 2 January, when all hope appears lost.
However, the supporters are not so easily fooled, and the instant retaliation to Patrick Stewart’s public backing of the boss shows just how lowly Clement is viewed in Glasgow.
Kris Boyd rather indirectly backed the protest at Ibrox, citing a definite “disconnect” between the Glaswegian outfit and the fans and believes the supporters deserve better.

While it would be peak Clement to hand a momentum-shifting victory to Aberdeen before claiming the scalp of Manchester United in the Europa League, one result will not be enough to turn the tide.
Stewart and Malcolm Offord must listen to the clear message from the Rangers faithful – they have had enough of Clement and the sooner he is shown the door, the better.
In other Rangers news, Nils Koppen must be wise to what a manager has said about a Gers transfer target.
