David Edgar teary-eyed after ‘brilliant’ moment in Rangers win v St Johnstone
David Edgar could not hold back his emotions after Danilo’s involvement in Rangers’ opening goal against St Johnstone on Sunday.
The Brazilian’s quick thinking allowed Vaclav Cerny to feed the ball to Mohammed Diomande, who had sneaked behind the Saints defence, firing across for Hamza Igamane to open the scoring in style.
Danilo has been in incredible form since returning fully from injury, and while he could only add once to his five goals and two assists, his quick-thinking was integral in the build-up to the goal on 12 January.
Taking to X [12 January], Edgar wrote: Rangers take the lead through Hamza! Brilliant quick thinking from Danilo who takes a quick throw – tears in my eyes writing that – to Cerny.
“He passes it to the onrushing Diomande who finds Igamane with a cutback.”
Rangers win v St Johnstone overshadowed by Ibrox protests
The Gers’ clash against the Saints was always going to be a strange occasion at Ibrox, with supporters planning to walk out in the 55th minute as a sign of protest.
Philippe Clement is under immense pressure due to his team’s form on the pitch, and so too is the Rangers boardroom to make a change, which could be coming very soon.
The Light Blues have made their feelings rather well-known following their protests, chants and banners at Ibrox, with only limited cheers being heard as the team won 3-1.

With the Gers 15 points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, falling behind by an unacceptable distance, it is no surprise to see so much anger being aimed at higher figures.
Many thought Patrick Stewart’s first act as the new CEO would be to relieve the Belgian from his duties, but with the manager still in charge, fans have taken matters into their own hands.
In other Rangers news, Mark Guidi has named the “obvious candidate” to replace Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
