Chris Sutton gets it all wrong after what he said about Rangers fans

Rangers supporters have every right to protest against the running of the club, with Chris Sutton needing to keep his nose out of it.

The outspoken pundit criticised fans for their decision to walk out of Ibrox in the 55th minute of the 3-1 win over St. Johnstone on 12 January in protest over Philippe Clement and the boardroom.

Patrick Stewart recently gave his backing to Clement, something which hasn’t gone down too well.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (12 January, 6:16 pm), Sutton said: “Were you one of those fans who walked out? It’s getting very messy and silly.”

The Light Blues startling regression under the Belgian in this campaign deserves to be the focus of criticism, not the supporters’ reaction to it, and the only silly thing is Sutton piping up again.

Clement needs to turn Rangers fortunes around quickly

The Belgian needs to ensure that results pick up because a 15-point gap to Celtic is unacceptable.

Rangers and Stewart have publicly backed the manager, now it is time for him to respond with a positive run of form both home and away.

The Gers supporters have every right to showcase their frustration given that Clement’s side has won just two of their last six matches and the constant off-field chaos that has plagued the Bears this season.

That being said, it may cause further division amongst the fanbase with a large section of fans booing the actions during the victory.

Clement needs to ensure that supporters stick together and the only way to do that is winning matches constantly.

If he fails, the only way to unite the fanbase will be to part ways with the former Monaco boss and start from scratch.
