Propper struggles, Diomande shines – Rangers player ratings v St Johnstone
Philippe Clement will be pleased with his team as Rangers secured a 3-1 win over St Johnstone on Sunday afternoon.
The Gers raced into a three-goal lead at Ibrox on 12 January, with Hamza Igamane, Vaclav Cerny and Mohamed Diomande all getting in on the action before Jack Sanders headed home for the visitors.
While the Light Blues claimed all three points in the Scottish Premiership clash, the home game was overshadowed by a mass walk-out halfway through the game, changing the major talking points massively.
Ibrox News ranked each player out of 10.
Liam Kelly – 7
Little for Jack Butland’s understudy to do at Ibrox, touching the ball just six times as the Gers dominated proceedings against the Saints. Nothing he could do about Saints’ goal.
Jefte – 7
While certainly quieter than his usual-attacking self, Jefte still managed to create chances for his teammates and problems for the opposition defence.
Clinton Nsiala – 6
Dealt well with the threat of Mackenzie Kirk and Benjamin Mbunga Kimpioka but, in general, a very quiet game for all defenders in Light Blue. Remained calm and composed on the ball.
Robin Propper – 4
Much like Nsiala, there was little for the Dutchman to do, but on the rare occasions the Saints threatened to break, his pace looked to be an issue and could only clear the ball out for throw-ins.
Ridvan Yilmaz (Off for Leon King 87′) – 6
Has put on mixed performances in recent weeks but was far more consistent this time around, helping Cerny to attack down the right flank and supporting the centre-back duo of Propper and Nsiala.
Mohamed Diomande – 9
A goal and assist from midfielder – Clement could not have asked for much more from the 23-year-old. He was all over the park, deservedly earning the Man of the Match award at Ibrox.
Nico Raskin – 7
Raskin has rarely put a foot wrong since Clement put his trust in the Belgian midfielder, wearing the captain’s armband in James Tavernier’s absence. Cool, calm, collected in the middle of the park.
Ianis Hagi (Off for Ross McCausland 76′) – 5
Certainly one of his quieter games in recent weeks, struggling to really have much impact in the final third, and should have done better to deny Jack Sanders his headed goal from a corner.

Danilo (Off for Kieran Dowell 87′) – 7
The striker is clearly building a great relationship with the attackers around him, especially Cerny, as the Gers raced into a 3-0 lead before St Johnstone got one back in the second half.
Vaclav Cerny (Off for Oscar Cortes 64′) – 8
Linked up well with Danilo for the opening goal, grabbing a pre-assist before Igamame smashed an effort past Andrew Fisher. Had multiple chances to score and probably should have netted more.
Hamza Igamane (Off for Cyriel Dessers 64′) – 8
Scored his sixth goal in his last five appearances, including the hat-trick against Hibernian, finishing off a fine team move to open his account for the afternoon at Ibrox. Such a talent.
Substitutions
Oscar Cortes (On for Cerny 64′) – 6
Posed a threat after replacing Cerny, nearly scoring a fourth for the Gers just moments after being introduced.
Cyriel Dessers (On for Igamane 64′) – N/A
Ross McCausland (On for Hagi 76′) – N/A
Kieran Dowell (On for Danilo 87′) – N/A

In other Rangers news, a Romania great shares if he’s spoken to Philippe Clement about the “extremely difficult” Hagi saga at Ibrox.
