Clement axes playmaker in two changes – Rangers confirmed XI v St Johnstone

Nedim Bajrami has been dropped as Philippe Clement named his Rangers starting XI to face St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers announced their lineup via their official X account (12 January) to take on the Saints at Ibrox with Bajrami one of two changes made by the Belgian from their 1-1 draw with Dundee (9 January) last time out.

Alongside the Albania international, Connor Barron has also been dropped from Rangers’ starting line-up with the 50-year-old still trying to patch a team together despite the amount of injuries they’ve suffered.

In their place come Nico Raskin and Danilo with Clement desperate for his side to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Philippe Clement and Rangers need a win against St Johnstone

Although Patrick Stewart has said that Clement still has the full backing of the board at the moment, it’s unclear how much longer the Rangers board are going to allow their team to continue underperforming.

The role of the Belgian has been under constant scrutiny since the start of the term with the Gers never really looking like they were up for a title fight this term.

Granted, they may have beaten their arch-rivals 3-0 in their last face-off but it feels like performances of that calibre should have occurred far more often.

The gap between Clement’s men and first-placed Celtic is now up to a whopping eighteen points with the Gers only winning one of their last five Scottish Premiership clashes.

Granted, the amount of injuries they’ve suffered this term needs to be taken into account but with the January window now open and many players being linked with an Ibrox switch, it feels like change needs to happen soon, otherwise, it could end up being curtains for Clement.
