Chris Sutton slams silly Rangers fans as he reacts to Ibrox protests

Chris Sutton has slammed Rangers supporters for walking out of their clash with St Johnstone in protest against the running of the club.

Several off-field concerns have emerged at Ibrox over the past few seasons and fans are fed up, resulting in a protest in their win against St Johnstone.

Supporters have been wanting desperate answers as to why the regression has been allowed to continue, with Sutton hitting back at the protests seen at Ibrox on Sunday (12 January).

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live [12 January, 6:16pm], Sutton said: “Were you one of those fans who walked out? It’s getting very messy and silly”.

Chris Sutton claims seem misplaced at Rangers

What world are we in when supporters wanting the best for their club are classed as silly? The only thing silly is the claims made by Sutton.

The regression at Rangers has been deeply concerning and it keeps getting even worse, with more and more concerns emerging both on and off the pitch.

A 3-1 win against St Johnstone earned three points but did little in the sense of addressing the deep-rooted issues at the club that have lingered for far too long.

Without action and, in this case protests by supporters, there is no chance of seeing an improvement at Ibrox, making Sutton’s claims seem completely ill-judged.

Given their loyalty and support towards the club, which has seen little reward since Steven Gerrard departed in 2021, supporters have every right to express their concerns in whatever form they deem necessary. Without it, very little change will be seen.
