Billy Dodds stunned by ‘scary’ moment in Rangers 3-1 St Johnstone
Rangers coasted to victory against St Johnstone on Sunday afternoon, leaving Billy Dodds stunned after an “incredible” moment in the first half.
A 3-1 win against St Johnstone reduced the pressure on Phillipe Clement at Ibrox, with the Gers barely having to get out of first gear to secure all three points.
Three goals in nine minutes all but secured the result in the first half for the Light Blues, but it was the third that stunned Dodds when Mohamed Diomande was gifted a goal in an “incredible” moment.
Speaking via BBC Scotland Sportsound [12 January, 3:29 pm], Dodds explained: “[St Johnstone] are so all over the place. They’re playing a back five, but they’ve only got one back and it’s Jack Sanders.
“He starts panicking and sets up Mohamed Diomande to head it in. Far too easy and far too self-inflicted. It’s incredible what I’m watching here today.
“St Johnstone are so out of position. It’s scary.”

There’ll be very few encounters this season where Rangers aren’t required to get out of first gear, but Sunday’s (12 January) clash was certainly one of them but the result can’t be used to overlook the ongoing concerns at Ibrox this season.
Fans, rightfully so, continued to show their discontent at how their club is being run, with a protest on display in the first half of the game.
Results just haven’t been good enough and nor have the performances, with any chance of attaining silverware looking minimal given their exit from the Scottish League Cup and the remarkable 15-point gap on Celtic.
It leaves the Gers with the Scottish Cup and Europa League as their only real chances of success this season, although both will still provide a huge challenge.
Off-field issues have haunted the club as well and that seems to be the primary ammunition used by supporters as they attempt to see improvements from those capable of making them.
The result will keep Clement in a job yet again, and quite likely for the remainder of the season, but it can only possibly be seen as a flimsy plaster used to hold together the emerging hole at Ibrox.
