Philippe Clement sack: ‘Serious’ update mooted ahead of Rangers v St Johnstone
Rangers could end Philippe Clement’s tenure at Ibrox before Rangers face St Johnstone on Sunday, Mark Guidi has said.
The Gers welcome the Saints to Ibrox on 12 January in another Scottish Premiership clash, with the manager skating on thin ice after a 1-1 draw against Dundee at Dens Park last time out.
Clement has been under serious pressure over the last few months, but with a 15-point gap opening up at the top of the league table, many feel this has gone on for far too long.
Speaking via the Go Radio Football Show [10 January], Guidi said: “The Rangers Supporters Association said that they’re done with him [Clement] and I think now, with the executive team, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were serious in their minds about changing their manager.
“Philippe Clement may not be in charge on Sunday against St Johnstone.”
Rangers to sack Philippe Clement before St Johnstone clash?
The Light Blues are certainly running out of time to make this decision, and it remains to be seen who would take charge if Clement were to be gone before the clash at Ibrox.
Clement’s side are only falling further and further behind their Old Firm rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership, though Patrick Stewart is likely to have sympathy due to the severe number of injuries.
Jack Butland, James Tavernier, John Souttar, and Tom Lawrence have all joined Neraysho Kasanwirjo in the treatment room, with Dujon Sterling also missing the last game due to injury.

The current squad has more than enough talent to be doing far better in the league, which is exactly why supporters are becoming frustrated with the poor results away from Ibrox.
While there were links to managers a few weeks ago, those reports have gone quiet so it is difficult to see who could actually replace Clement at the helm at such short notice.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have ramped up their interest in Connor Barron 2.0, with scouts working extensively.
