McInnes in line for Rangers appointment, Clement already gave stamp of approval
Philippe Clement could be in his final days at Ibrox if Patrick Stewart makes his first major change at Rangers.
The Belgian has been under pressure from a frustrated fanbase, though that seemed to alleviate in recent weeks, only for the pressure to pile straight back on after a 1-1 draw with Dundee.
Back-to-back draws against Hibernian and the Dee have seen the Gers slip 15 points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic, which is seen as totally unacceptable amongst the supporters, and rightly so.
The sooner Stewart realises how desperately poor the 50-year-old has been during his spell at Ibrox, the sooner the Light Blues can move forward and begin a new era under completely new leadership.
Of course, if the hierarchy is to make a cut-throat decision, a sensible replacement needs to be lined up, and Mark Guidi believes Kilmarnock’s Derek McInnes is the “obvious candidate” [Go Radio Football Show].
Rangers to sack Philippe Clement for Derek McInnes appointment?
The 53-year-old, who has been branded “old-school” by Kris Boyd [The Sun], already looks to have been given the stamp of approval by the current boss at Ibrox. It would be ironic if this move were to happen.
Speaking after a 2-1 win in February 2024, Clement said: “That’s also all credit to Derek and his team who made it a really big fight, and also what they’ve been doing all these months.”

With experience across the Scottish Premiership with St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Killie, McInnes looks like the perfect replacement for Clement, who must be on the verge of being sacked at Ibrox.
As mentioned above, being 15 points behind their Old Firm rivals is disastrous at this point in the league campaign, and while there is a clear rebuild needing to be done, that should include flushing out the new manager.
In other Rangers news, a “serious” Philippe Clement sack update has been mooted ahead of an Ibrox clash against St Johnstone.
