Chris Sutton destroys Rangers boss Philippe Clement – ‘Laughing stock’

Chris Sutton has destroyed Rangers manager Philippe Clement for the constant excuses he’s been making.

He believes that Celtic fans, instead of grumbling, should be delighted that they do not have a “laughing stock” managing the team like Clement.

After winning the Old Firm derby, Gers failed to pick up maximum points in both their away games and are now 15 points behind their arch rivals.

Sutton wrote in the Daily Record on 11 January: “I can understand Rodgers’ slight pop at the supporters. Instead of grumbling about the ball going backwards they should be grateful they don’t have a laughing stock in charge like Philippe Clement. What a contrast.

“It almost defies belief he’s still in a job given the likes of Gio van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale were binned for a lot less. Celtic have been superb but to be 15 points behind in January is just embarrassing.

“The Belgian waffle is getting worse every week. It’s excuse after laughable excuse. Clement had the brass neck to talk about injury problems the other night when Dundee had 10 players out – including arguably their best player in Lyall Cameron.”

Rangers fans are also sick of Philippe Clement’s constant moaning

Many Gers supporters are expressing frustration with Clement’s continuous excuses, feeling particularly weary of his justifications, especially as there’s little visible progress since he took over.

Under the Belgian’s stewardship, the team has struggled and are trailing Celtic by a staggering margin.

This situation has led fans to reminisce about the tenures of previous managers like Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, which, despite their own challenges, never saw the team in such a dire position.

The contrast between Clement’s management and that of his predecessors is stark, with fans feeling that the current excuses are not only unconvincing but also embarrassing, given the club’s history and expectations.

His remarks about injury issues, particularly when compared to Dundee’s situation, have further fueled the discontent.

Previous managers have been sacked for far less, leading to the question as to what more needs to happen before he gets sacked.
