Rangers v St Johnstone predicted XI: Philippe Clement to axe summer signing

Rangers take on St Johnstone on Sunday and will be hoping to return to winning ways after draws against Dundee and Hibs.

After two back-to-back games on the road which saw Philippe Clement’s side dropping four points, they return to Ibrox on 12 January.

The Belgian will look to be making some changes, but with the number of injuries, his options might be limited.

Nicolas Raskin is set to return for Rangers v St Johnstone

Raskin will have served his suspension and is set to return to the team and is expected to captain the side as well.

Robin Propper wore the armband against Dundee, but it is expected to go back to the Belgian who will partner Mohamed Diomande in midfield.

Clinton Nsiala impressed at the heart of defence on Thursday and while the others didn’t, Clement does not have options with James Tavernier, Dujon Sterling and John Souttar all ruled out and Leon Balogun expected to miss out as well.

Connor Barron is likely to make way for Raskin after an underwhelming display in the middle of the park in mid-week.

The other change will be Danilo coming in for summer signing Nedim Bajrami.

This move would see Hamza Igamane moving to the left and occupying those half spaces, looking to combine with Danilo.

In an ideal scenario, Clement would’ve liked to make more changes, but has just two he can possibly make.
