Rangers v St Johnstone postponement update after pitch inspections latest
Rangers and St Johnstone are set to proceed with Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox as planned with no pitch inspection scheduled, according to the Scottish Sun.
The latest report from the news outlet (10 January) details how fixtures up and down Scotland have been bludgeoned by the snow and sub-zero temperatures throughout the week, with a number of postponements announced in the Championship, League One and League Two.
However, all Premiership games this weekend are still set to go ahead as planned, with Ibrox’s undersoil heating facilities significantly minimising the risk despite the frosty conditions across Glasgow.
Rangers are looking for a return to winning ways against their Perth-based visitors (12 January) after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Dundee on Thursday night (9 January).
Rangers will be vilified if they fail to win on Sunday
Rangers are no stranger to criticism this season, having endured a succession of difficult days to navigate through.
An abundance of points have been dropped on the road including on their trip north on Thursday, but to fail to win at home to a St Johnstone side rooted firmly to the foot of the league table would bring a new, scathing level of backlash.
In an ideal world, Philippe Clement would treat this game as the one to restore confidence to his squad that has not been seen since the Old Firm win over Celtic (2 January), but St Johnstone will aim to spoil the party.

Both sides’ last fixtures came against Dundee, between them giving the side four points. St Johnstone were beaten 3-1 by the Dee on 5 January, before the dismal draw by the Gers.
Rangers eked out a 1-0 win in Perth on 1 December courtesy of a Jason Holt own goal to spare their blushes, which has started an eight-game winless run for the division’s basement boys. Clement and his side simply must hand them another defeat.
