Rangers player tipped to quit Ibrox by Kris Boyd after what Clement did
Kris Boyd expects Leon King to seek a Rangers exit after being left out of the starting line-up by Philippe Clement to face Dundee.
King was a surprise omission in defence for the Gers’ 1-1 draw at Dens Park on Thursday (9 January), with Clinton Nsiala instead preferred.
That news wowed some, and it may well be the beginning of the end for King as he struggles for any sort of playing time.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event [9 January, 7:44pm], Boyd said: “He’s probably in a position now where he’ll have to look elsewhere.
“He’s older than Nsiala, who’s come in. He must have thought he was a nailed-on starter last week. But there’s too many people in their comfort zone at Rangers and he may now have to move on.
“He’s had a period of time where it’s been stale for him, and now he’s on the bench with someone younger starting.”
Leon King looks done at Rangers
Even in the midst of an injury crisis of sorts at Ibrox, King still does not get a look-in at the back for the Gers.
Nsiala came in for his first appearance at senior level alongside Robin Propper, with King having to settle for a place among the substitutes.
A number of clubs were said to hold an interest in the defender in 2023, but it is likely that interest has since dried up.
King, as Boyd points out, is not at the level he was a couple of years ago and this is surely now the final nail in the coffin.

Clement opted to go with Nsiala and, while that decision is fair enough on the face of it, it is unlikely King would have taken that well.
Rangers are unlikely to sanction any exit in the January window due to a shortage of options, but there is no reason for King to stay on beyond this season.
