Philippe Clement sack: Patrick Stewart to break silence as Rangers fans turn

Kris Boyd has urged Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart to speak out after Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw with Dundee on Thursday.

The Gers were disappointing once again at Dens Park on 9 January in a result that only served to increase the intense pressure on Philippe Clement.

The Belgian has told supporters that Stewart will be addressing concerns about the transfer market in the next few days but they are yet to hear from the former Manchester United chief.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Boyd believes fans will start turning on the board again, saying: “The pressure is going to come back on Patrick Stewart and the Rangers board.

“Philippe Clement has thrown this over to Patrick Stewart for maybe a week now,  you’ll hear from Patrick Stewart, not heard anything.

“He’s going to have to come out and say something because the Rangers fans are now going to turn on the board.”

Patrick Stewart to break Rangers silence

The new CEO only started his role in mid-December after the controversial Premier Sports Cup final defeat to Celtic.

However, he has a massive decision on his hands just under a month into his reign on Clement’s future at Ibrox with the Gers being 15 points behind their close rivals.

Never mind speaking on the transfer plans of the Light Blues, he will need to address the managerial situation too because the Belgian cannot go on with the uncertainty over his future.

The Glasgow club need to either come out and back him and assure supporters that there is a long-term plan and he will be backed in the January market or give him an ultimatum, win the next few games or you lose your job.

Supporters cannot continue to be in the dark about transfers and the head coach’s future, that just serves to increase the chaos surrounding the team.

One thing is for sure, Stewart needs to make his mind up on Clement sooner rather than later, either get rid of him or allow Clement to try to turn things around without constant pressure on him.

In other Rangers news, Jefte will be delighted as a £3.7m January transfer update emerges at the Gers.
