David Edgar slams ‘honking’ Rangers ace after what he did v Dundee
David Edgar has slammed Ridvan Yilmaz for the “honking” performance he put in for Rangers in their 1-1 draw against Dundee on Thursday.
The Gers left Dens Park with just a point to add to their Scottish Premiership tally as they once again struggled on the road, this time at seventh-placed Dundee.
The Gers are now 15 points behind arch-rivals Celtic with the title now looking well beyond their reach.
Writing on Heart and Hand X account (9 January), Edgar shared his thoughts on the performance of the Turkey international.
“Yilmaz tonight has been absolutely honking,” he posted.
Ridvan Yilmaz needs to be better for Rangers
There has to be an element of sympathy for Yilmaz, who has been standing-in as a makeshift right-back for the Gers in recent weeks given the defensive injury crisis they have been facing.
With John Souttar, Leon Balogun and James Tavernier all out, the situation worsened when Dujon Sterling was unavailable against Dundee.
It meant Yilmaz was on the right, Jefte was on the left, and rookie Clinton Nsiala was partnered next to Robin Propper.
But, having said that, that is when you need players like Yilmaz to stand up and be counted and quite frankly he just did not do that against Dundee.

Crisis or no crisis, you still have to make sure you’re playing to the best of your ability and wear the Gers shirt with pride every time you put it on.
Yilmaz and his teammates fell well short of that mark against Dundee and that is hugely disappointing to admit.
