Philippe Clement red flags raised at Rangers after what he did

Keith Jackson believes there are “red flags” scattered all over Rangers with Philippe Clement still at the helm.

At the moment, the Ibrox outfit are second in the Scottish Premiership table and while that may seem like a good effort, when the fact their gap to first-place is 13 points is taken into account, it shows how poor they’ve been.

However, Jackson believes that the Gers’ poor form hasn’t just occurred since the start of the 2024/25 season but instead, when Clement’s men drew 3-3 with Celtic on 7 April 2024 last term.

“There are red flags littered all over the place, you know the 3-3 draw at Ibrox [last season] that he celebrated as if he won the title when in fact he probably just conceded the title,” he said on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (8 January).

“It then sparked this run of games away from home which extended into this season, over 15 games now so what’s that, 45 points, Rangers have secured just 17, that’s less than 50 per cent.”

Philippe Clement’s days at Rangers should be numbered

There have already been countless times this season when Rangers fans have called for the head of Clement.

While the Belgian has led his team to put in some good performances on the odd occasion, it feels like he’s done more harm than good at Ibrox this term.

Rangers may also find themselves in the top eight of the Europa League but one of the main things that count is bragging rights over their arch-rivals, which is all that fans desire.

Following their summer transfer window, some thought that the Gers would be able to put up a decent fight for the top spot but instead, they’ve been left in the dust.

There have also been several times already this season that Clement’s performance as manager could have been enough to earn him the sack but fortunately for the 50-year-old, things haven’t been settled at Ibrox this season.

That has no doubt had a part to play in the former Club Brugge boss keeping his role, which, seems a bit unfair on both the fans and the players in Glasgow.

In other Rangers news, the Glasgow-based outfit have made “contact” for the transfer of a centre-back already.
