Chris Sutton makes Philippe Clement sack claim live on Sky before Rangers game
Chris Sutton believes Rangers will now stick with Philippe Clement until the end of the season.
The Belgian has been working under immense pressure at Ibrox, and with his side failing to produce consistent results, the boss has been slammed for his excuses throughout the year.
However, Sutton shared his verdict on the Gers boss live on Sky Sports Main Event [9 January, 7:19pm] before the clash against Dundee at the Scot Foam Stadium and believes the time to sack Clement has passed.
Asked by fellow pundit Kris Boyd if he can see Clement being sacked anytime soon, Sutton said: “I think he gets to the end of the season. If they were going to sack him, they’d have done so by now.”
Rangers to stick with Philippe Clement
Clement has survived the gauntlet at Ibrox thus far, and it appears the Rangers boss will see out his duties in Glasgow until May at the very least.
The current 14-point gap to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership is insurmountable by all accounts, and no managerial change, barring Pep Guardiola, would help the Light Blues bridge that gap to be crowned Scottish champions.
Therefore, with a managerial merry-go-round happening south of the border, now is not the time for the Gers to make a rash decision regarding Clement.
However, his lack of consistent results is a serious cause for concern – following up the 3-0 win against Celtic at Ibrox by surrendering a two-goal lead in the 3-3 draw against Hibernian sums up his fortunes this season.

There is still the Europa League to play for his year, and impressive results against Nice and Tottenham leave Rangers inside the top eight in the league phase and well on track to secure passage to the knockout rounds.
Clement’s long-term future at Ibrox is not safe by any stretch of the imagination, but with so much football left to be played this season, the board are best served to wait it out under the Belgian and can reassess the situation in May when all is said and done.
