Rangers transfer news: £15m Hamza Igamane claim emerges
Tony Watt believes that Rangers will only sell Hamza Igamane for a fee north of £15million.
The former Celtic striker, who’s currently playing for Motherwell, on loan from Dundee United, does not see the Moroccan leaving for anything less than £12million either.
Everton are among the clubs interested in signing the 22-year-old [TBR Football. December], who has become an important player under Philippe Clement.
Halliday told Open Goal on 7 January at 1:42:52: “This is what Rangers have done wrong for years. See if somebody comes in with a big offer, you sell them.”
When asked if £15million is the fee he’s suggesting, he responded: “It’s too early to say.”
Watt then said: “I don’t think they sell him under 12. Upwards of 15.”
Rangers would be crazy to not accept £15million for Hamza Igamane
While Igamane has proven to be a valuable asset for Gers since his £2.5million [Scotsman] move from AS FAR in the summer, accepting a £15million offer for him would be a no-brainer for the club.
This potential transfer fee would represent a significant profit, providing the Ibrox outfit with a substantial sum to reinvest in the squad.
The Scottish Premiership often sees clubs selling their stars for profit to fund broader team improvements and such a sale would align with this strategy.
Given Rangers’ history of not selling players who have appreciated in value, as highlighted by Halliday’s comments, turning down £15million would be financially imprudent.
This money could be used to strengthen multiple areas of the team, potentially bringing in new talent that could help secure domestic titles or improve their performance in European competitions.
From a business and squad rebuilding perspective, it would be madness for Gers not to entertain such an offer.
