Rangers should be embarrassed after what has happened recently

Rangers should be “embarrassed” at their away record during the festive period, Mark Guidi says.

The award-winning journalist has criticised the Gers for taking only two points on the road since losing to St Mirren on Boxing Day.

The Light Blues are 13 points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic after their 3-3 draw with Hibernian on Sunday (5 January).

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (6 January), Guidi said: “Two points out of nine on the road in the festive period. If I’m a Rangers player or part of the managing team, I’m embarrassed at the league table.

“13 points behind after this amount of games? Embarrassing for them to be in that situation.”

Rangers inconsistency the downfall of Philippe Clement

Philippe Clement has had a topsy-turvy season at Ibrox this time around, with speculation about his future swirling.

The Belgian manager struggled to bring the best out of the squad at the start of the campaign, but recent performances have shown that there’s more to the team than meets the eye.

At the beginning of December, the Bears put in impressive performances against Tottenham in the Europa League and Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final at Hampden.

Clement bought himself some time, but after failing to win against St Mirren and Motherwell, the 50-year-old was back in the spotlight.

The Belgian drowned out most of the noise after his first Old Firm derby win on 2 January, beating Celtic 3-0 at Ibrox.

But the Bears once again failed to get the three points on their travel to Easter Road, making it difficult for the fans to support the former Monaco head coach.

Clement needs to find consistency within the group and potentially win the Scottish Cup, with the league title out of their reach.
