Philippe Clement sack: Patrick Stewart paid big money to make Rangers decision
Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart has a big decision on whether to sack Philippe Clement, according to Michael Stewart.
The Gers find themselves 13 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership after a 3-3 draw with Hibernian on Sunday (5 January).
The embarrassing collapse at Easter Road which saw the Light Blues fumble two leads has led to renewed pressure on Clement’s future in the dugout at Ibrox.
Speaking on the Premier Sports Scottish Football Social Club (6 January), Stewart said: “I think you could make a strong case either way, that Philippe Clement needs to go and they need to bring somebody else in or you could make a strong defence of him and say he needs more time.
“That is why Patrick Stewart gets paid the big bucks to make the big decisions.”
Alan Hutton instantly shared his verdict after, saying: “I think so right now, I would stick with him.
“A job this big is going to take time to turn it around. This is not going to fix itself overnight and you can’t keep changing managers when something goes wrong.”
Philippe Clement to leave Rangers?
The Belgian should stay in the Gers dugout in the immediate future, regardless of the poor results in this campaign.
Chopping and changing managers whenever something goes wrong will get the club nowhere, they need to implement a plan to catch their Glasgow rivals and stick with it.
Right now, the Gers are miles behind Brendan Rodgers’ side and it will take time to catch up, time that Clement must be afforded.

The Light Blues need to sort out their transfer business before they make any decision on the manager, with the new backroom figures having to right the wrongs of the old regime.
The victory over Celtic (2 January) was an encouraging step, the Belgian secured a maiden win over the Gers arch-rivals in his seventh attempt and shows he can achieve success.
They must build on that with Clement and get to a point where they can challenge the Hoops for the league title but that will not be a quick process and there will be bumps along the way.
