Kris Boyd rages at what he saw Rangers do v Hibernian – ‘Impossible’

Rangers have been torn to shreds by Kris Boyd for the manner in which they conceded Rocky Bushiri’s goal in the 3-3 draw against Hibernian on Sunday.

Hamza Igamane thought he had scored the winner for the Light Blues when he put them in front with his hat-trick goal in the 74th minute at Easter Road on 5 January, but the relief did not last long as Bushiri equalised for the hosts from a corner nine minutes later.

Boyd said that Bushiri did not even have to move from his spot to head the ball home and insisted that it should be “impossible” to concede such goals.

“You can work all week on corners and defending set-plays. If it’s a great move, then hands up, ‘I’ve been beaten'”, Boyd said on The Scottish Sun’s Go Ballistic podcast (6 January).

“The players that moved for Hibs in and around the box didn’t touch the ball.

“Rocky Bushiri stood in the middle of the six-yard box and just jumped and headed it into the back of the net.

“You cannot lose goals like that, it is impossible.

“Any time a ball goes in… whether it’s a long throw, a corner kick, a free-kick, any time a ball goes in that area for Rangers, they look very, very vulnerable.”

Philippe Clement must listen to Kris Boyd’s Rangers criticism

As Boyd mentioned, Rangers have looked vulnerable from set-pieces this season and that proved to be their undoing in the draw against Hibernian.

The Gers’ defending from deadball situations has left much to be desired and it is high time that Philippe Clement addressed that.

Likewise, the Glasgow giants’ form in away games has also been a cause for major concern for the Belgian tactician this season.

Rangers have won only three of their 10 away trips in the Scottish Premiership season and it is no wonder why they are 13 points behind Celtic in the title race.

Therefore, the fans cannot be blamed if they are doubtful of the Gers’ chances of claiming all three points against Dundee at Dens Park on Thursday, 9 January.

It remains to be seen if Clement can lead the Ibrox outfit to their fourth away win in the league when they lock horns with the Dark Blues.
