Kris Boyd calls out ‘worrying’ Rangers trend amid Hamza Igamane rage

Hamza Igamane would be “raging” with himself after he missed a chance in the dying minutes of the 3-3 draw between Rangers and Hibernian on Sunday, according to Kris Boyd.

Boyd admitted that he was surprised to see the Moroccan fail to find the back of the net after getting through on goal towards the end of the game at Easter Road on 5 January despite already grabbing a hat-trick that afternoon.

Turning his attention towards the Gers’ overall performance, the pundit expressed his “worry” over their poor form in away games.

“I think you’d be [angry] after the performance that you put in”, Boyd said on The Scottish Sun’s Go Ballistic podcast (6 January).

“You are probably the same as well, I would have been as well, raging with yourself that you never got that fourth one. He was clean through as well, done all the hard work.

“With the afternoon he already had with the perfect hat trick, you just feel as if it’s a matter of time before it ended up in the back of the net, but it wasn’t to be for him.

“But, it was still an afternoon he will remember for all the right reasons personally, but collectively as a team again, Rangers find a way to throw away points away from home. It is worrying.

“The performances at home have been very good in some games and reasonably good in others, but away from home, for whatever reason it is, Rangers cannot seem to buy a victory or a consistent run of results, and have another tough one coming on Thursday [against Dundee, 9 January].”

Philippe Clement under pressure as Hamza Igamane’s Rangers hat-trick goes in vain

As Boyd said, Sunday’s game was certainly one to remember for Igamane.

The 22-year-old made a flying start to the game, giving the Light Blues a two-goal within the opening 20 minutes.

However, the visitors slipped up and allowed the hosts to come back into the game, with a brace from Martin Boyle nullifying Igamane’s early goals.

He would have thought he had surely grabbed the winner for Rangers when he grabbed his third and finished a perfect hat-trick in the 74th minute.

It was not to be, though, as Rocky Bushiri nicked a late equaliser for Hibs, thus forcing Philippe Clement’s side to return to Glasgow with just a point.

As Boyd mentioned, Rangers’ form in away games has been a major headache for Clement.

The Ibrox outfit have won just three of their away trips in the Scottish Premiership this season and that is the reason whey they find themselves sitting 13 points behind Celtic in the title race.
