Sutton reacts instantly on Sky Sports to Igamane goal in Rangers clash v Hibs
Chris Sutton waxed lyrical about Hamza Igamane after he put Rangers in front against Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday.
Igamane gave the Light Blues the lead just four minutes into the Scottish Premiership game on 5 January, with Ianis Hagi providing the assist.
Sutton, the player-turned-pundit, described the Moroccan‘s finish as “terrific” and also tipped his hat to Hagi for cleverly setting up the goal, although he reserved criticism for Rocky Bushiri.
“That’s a terrific finish, but Bushiri causes himself all sorts of problems there, doesn’t deal with the long ball”, the pundit said on Sky Sports Main Event Live (5 January, 12:06 pm).
“Igamane keeps it alive and then it goes down left to Hagi and we know that he has the confidence and the quality.
“Little look there, picks out Igamane in and around the penalty spot. It’s such a clean finish.
“No chance for Jordan Smith there, [Hagi] has a little look there, picks him out. The Hibs defenders back off.
“It’s such a controlled finish. Rangers’ confidence just goes from strength to strength.”
Sutton praises Igamane and Hagi after goal in Hibernian v Rangers
Philippe Clement’s side have picked up right where they left off after the 3-0 win against Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox on Thursday, 2 January.
It took Igamane only 15 minutes to double the visitors’ lead as he headed home his second goal of the afternoon, with Nedim Bajrami turning the provider on this occasion.
It is worth noting that it was the Glasgow giants’ first headed goal of the season in the Premiership.
Having taken an early two-goal lead, the Gers are on course to come away from Hibernian with all three points.
There was a case to be made about Igamane being dropped to the bench after he failed to impress against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

However, Clement stuck with the 22-year-old, leaving Cyriel Dessers and Danilo on the bench.
The decision has paid off as the striker has scored twice in just 20 minutes. It remains to be seen if he can add more to the tally and take the match ball home.
