Hibs v Rangers: BBC pundit wowed by Jefte despite 3-3 draw

Former Rangers star Billy Dodds has revealed that he really likes Jefte during the 3-3 draw with Hibernian.

The Brazilian defender has impressed in his maiden season at Ibrox despite an inconsistent season for Philippe Clement’s side overall.

They find themselves ten points behind league leaders Celtic after the draw at Easter Road and the fact that they allowed Hibs to come back from 2-0 and 3-2 down sums up their season.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland (5 January, 13:03 pm), Dodds praised the 21-year-old defender, saying: “I really like him.

“I think he has always played with the right attitude even when Rangers were losing games, he was the one that showed a willingness and wanted to go about his job properly.

“I think that is why the Rangers fans really like him.”

Jefte continues to impress for Rangers

It took the former Fluminense man a while to adapt to the Scottish game since his arrival at Ibrox in the summer.

However, he has been a constant option for Clement on the left-hand side being deployed mostly at left-back but also as a left-winger on some occasions.

He has featured in 17 league matches, starting 16 of those games and becoming a reliable presence for the Belgian in his struggling Gers side.

There was little he could do to stop the Gers from fumbling their leads in Edinburgh as they failed to capitalise on the momentum from the 3-0 victory over Celtic on Thursday (2 January).

The result leaves Clement under pressure once again, especially after the capitulation from his side left them ten points behind the Bhoys with Brendan Rodgers’ team playing later in the day.

It could be a matter of time before Clement is given his marching orders after another disappointing afternoon.
