Dodds reacts to Beaton decision in Hibs v Rangers that would have left him angry
Billy Dodds thought John Beaton’s decision to book Nicky Cadden was “harsh” after a foul on Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin in the Gers 3-3 draw with Hibernian.
Hamza Igamane was the man in the spotlight on Sunday having scored twice in the opening half and securing his hat trick in the second but Dodds was drawn to a “harsh” decision after a foul on Raskin.
Cadden went into a sliding challenge and appeared to get a lot of the ball before catching Raskin on the follow-through leading to his booking which Dodds was surprised at.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Scotland (5 January, 12:50 pm), Dodds said: “I’ve not seen a replay but I think that’s harsh because he’s gone to ground, he’s slid in, he’s won the ball, yeah momentum has taken him onto Raskin, I’d be angry to get a yellow for that.”
Rangers drop more points against Hibernian
Especially in the first half, Rangers looked to be back to their best with the attacking lineup causing constant problems to the Hibernian defence but it wasn’t enough as Hibernian came from behind to secure a 3-3 draw.
Igamane in particular was unstoppable with his first timed finish closely followed by his powerful header giving the Gers a 2-0 advantage in the early stages of the encounter and it was certainly deserved.
Mohammed Diomande has come in for a fair share of criticism for his performances this season but he impressed in the midfield with his passing ability on full show but things changed drastically after Rangers took a 2-0 lead with Philippe Clement’s side collapsing.

Hibernian aren’t a weak side and the first half showing showcases how good Rangers can be but once again a lack of consistency and failure to maintain those levels proved costly as the hosts managed to come back on two occasions and secure a point.
If Clement is to turn his fortunes around at Ibrox, those second-half performances are simply not acceptable and it showcases a complete lack of game management and experience when it comes to seeing out a game.
