Chris Sutton makes ‘tremendous’ Igamane admission in Rangers draw v Hibs

Chris Sutton was blown away by the header scored by Hamza Igamane as Rangers doubled their first-half advantage against Hibernian.

Igamane was again in the spotlight for Rangers having already given his side a 1-0 lead with a neat first-timed finish following a cross from Ianis Hagi but his second goal impressed Sutton just as much.

Nedim Bajrami, who has had his future at the club come under question, floated a wonderful ball into the box with Igamane dispatching the header, leaving Sutton in awe of what he had just seen.

While commentating on the clash for Sky Sports Football (5 January), Sutton exclaimed: “What a header this is from Igamane. That left-hand side for Rangers does it to Hibs again. Bajrami with all the time in the world to get his head up. Picks Igamane out but the header is tremendous. Power and precision gets up early.”

Hamza Igamane runs the show for Rangers v Hibs

Igamane was a constant thorn in the side of Hibernian on Sunday afternoon and his already impressive goal record continues to get even better with him now having registered eight goals in his last 11 games.

His performances have been exemplary and begged the question as to why Cyriel Dessers has featured more often than him although his performance against Hibs will surely change that stance.

It comes as little surprise to see transfer interest in the Gers forward with Everton one of several clubs to have expressed an interest in signing the frontman (Graeme Bailey).

Igamane’s importance to the Rangers team has been showcased every time he’s stepped onto the pitch and his time to be the number one forward has surely arrived.

While any success in the league remains unlikely given the gap from Celtic, Igamane’s regular inclusion going forward is the Gers’ best chance of reducing that but performances of those around him must improve if results are going to come.
