Rangers transfer news delights Ferguson, can only be good thing
Barry Ferguson is delighted that Robbie Fraser has joined Livingston on loan from Rangers in the January transfer window.
The former Gers captain is happy to see the Light Blues confirm the youngster’s departure for the rest of the season.
Ferguson highlighted the importance of regular minutes for the 21-year-old as he moved to the Scottish Championship outfit.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (4 January), the 46-year-old said: “He’s 21. I like Fraser, but it looks to me that he’s not going to get many minutes [at Rangers].
“It’s important that young players go out and gain that experience. It’s good to see he’s away at Livingston to get some game time.”
Rangers youngster Robbie Fraser to come back stronger after Livingston loan
Fraser made his way through the youth ranks at Gers before captaining the B Team.
The left-back was part of the first team in the current campaign and made four appearances in all competitions for Philippe Clement’s senior side, but primarily featured for the youth outfit.
In the 3-0 win over Celtic at Ibrox on Thursday (2 January), the Scotland Under-21s international came on as a last-minute substitute to replace Jefte.
Rangers have relied on the Brazilian to provide cover on the left-hand side of the defence for the majority of the season.

The Belgian manager has had multiple injury issues to deal with in recent weeks, and the Light Blues could do with more depth in that position.
John Souttar and Leon Balogun have been sidelined, while Neraysho Kasanwirjo’s time with the Bears seems to have ended after he picked up an injury during the November international break.
Fraser could have been a valuable asset for the team in the upcoming fixtures, but his game time would arguably have been limited.
The Ibrox faithful will hope the youngster gets regular minutes at Livingston and returns to stake a claim in the first team down the line.
