Tam Cowan: 49,999 Rangers fans will be ‘raging’ with ‘clown’ after win v Celtic

Rangers beat Celtic but 49,999 supporters will be “raging” with the actions of one “clown”, according to Tam Cowan.

Philippe Clement was under heavy pressure coming into the Ibrox contest but relieved some of that as his side brushed away the league leaders with a 3-0 win to reduce the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 11 points.

However, the victory on Thursday (2 January) was marred by a supporter throwing a missile at Bhoys star Arne Engels in the closing stages.

The journalist took to Instagram to criticise those actions, saying: “Rangers were brilliant and deserved AT LEAST the 3-0 and 49,999 fans inside the stadium will surely be raging with the clown who threatened to take the shine off a famous victory by throwing a coin at a Celtic player.”

Idiot takes the shine off a wonderful Rangers win

The victory over Brendan Rodgers side was not a fluke, the Gers outclassed their arch-rivals in what looked like a mismatch.

The Light Blues had only beat Celtic once in their last 20 meetings with Clement yet to taste victory in an Old Firm match in six attempts.

With Jack Butland, James Tavernier, John Souttar all ruled out their task seemed even harder but the Gers rose to the occasion and stunned the Hoops to relieve the pressure on the Belgian.

However, the actions of one moron will take the shine off the win and bring the club’s security under scrutiny from the Scottish FA.

In the dying stages of the victory, Engels was struck by a coin when going to take a corner and fell to the ground needing treatment.

Police Scotland are already investigating two incidents from the contest [Daily Record] and the Gers have condemned the incident.

In other Rangers news, a report has claimed that the Gers could make a move for a former Ibrox star.
