Rangers v Celtic: Tam Cowan rages at ‘appalling’ Sky Sports for what they did

Tam Cowan was left raging at Sky Sports as he slammed their “appalling” coverage of the Scottish Premiership fixtures in Rangers’ 3-0 win over Celtic.

The Old Firm Derby was the chosen 3pm fixture to be broadcast on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football with Kris Boyd, Chris Sutton, Neil McCann and Neil Lennon all pundits on the coverage.

However, journalist Cowan was furious with the fact that the broadcaster hadn’t bothered to cover any of the other four top-flight games until after full-time in the Old Firm.

He posted on Instagram: “How come it took Sky Sports until 5:20pm to remember there were four other Premiership fixtures from ANY ground and the final scores got less air time than a bizarre plug for a Ryan Gosling movie?”

Cowan followed this up with an Instagram story showing the other scores with a caption that read: “Not a single score update on the other games from Sky Sports in the first half. Appaling stuff.”

Rangers come out on top with a 3-0 win v Celtic

Despite coming into the Old Firm game under immense pressure, Philippe Clement guided his team to a big win, putting in a dominant display on the afternoon to deservedly come out on top.

Their opponents were not up to it on Thursday (2 January) putting in a below-par performance and were potentially guilty of underestimating how their opponents would turn up at Ibrox given the Gers have had a difficult season so far and that Clement had never won against them.

The under-pressure Gers boss will have felt a massive relief after the full-time whistle, getting revenge on their rivals for the League Cup Final defeat in December.

While the victory must have saved the Belgian’s job for now, if his side struggles to build off this going forward the boss could easily find himself in hot water again soon.

Rangers are still 11 points behind Celtic after just 19 games so while this win was a biggie for Clement, it was simply just a bump in the road for the Bhoys.
