Kemar Roofe wowed by exit-linked Rangers star after what he saw v Celtic

Kemar Roofe has reached out to Ianis Hagi after his Rangers goal in the Old Firm win against Celtic on Thursday.

The Light Blues secured a famous 3-0 win against their Glasgow rivals on 2 January in a result which could ease pressure on under-fire manager Philippe Clement.

The Belgian has plenty to thank the 26-year-old attacking midfielder for as he netted the opening goal with just seven minutes on the clock at Ibrox.

After a difficult period in Govan, resulting in links away [Daily Record], it is clear how much the strike meant to him and his teammates.

Former teammate Roofe took to Instagram (2 January) to congratulate the Romania international as he said: “Mental strength brother, never giving up.”

The Jamaica international departed Ibrox in the summer and clearly made fond memories and positive relationships with his teammates over his four years in Glasgow.

This has seen the 31-year-old watch the Old Firm clash and witness his former side secure three points against their bitter rivals for the first time since 2023.

Hagi played his part in securing the win with a superb early strike which sent the Light Blues on their way to taking the win.

The former Genk youngster’s strike was superb and was a moment that was deserved after a difficult period at the start of the season.

The Romanian will be hopeful that this goal can kickstart his campaign and see him become the star man for the Gers across the second half of the season.

This will certainly have a better chance of happening with support from his teammates and, if the current crop in Govan are like Roofe, then that is likely to be the case.
