SFA order Rangers to pay £600,000 – Chris Jack

Rangers must pay Aberdeen a fee of £600,000 for Connor Barron after a Scottish FA tribunal concluded, according to Chris Jack.

The two Scottish Premiership clubs had failed to agree a fee for the midfielder after he completed a move to Ibrox in June leading to a tribunal to decide the amount that the transfer would cost.

Rangers Review journalist Jack claims that the SFA have now ruled on the matter and forced the Gers to pay the six-figure sum for the 22-year-old.

Rangers pay a fair fee for Barron

The Scottish under-21 international has impressed for the Light Blues so far this season and that likely increased the fee that the SFA have decided upon.

The Gers failed with an offer of £525,000 after the player moved to Ibrox from Pittodrie [Daily Record] and with the clubs unable to come to an agreement, the SFA was forced to intervene.

The demand brings another off-field issue for the club to an end and they can now move on to issues on the pitch with Philippe Clement’s future in the dugout in the balance.

The Gers are 14 points behind arch-rivals Celtic and face the Bhoys on 2 January in a crucial clash for Clement as he bids to save his job after another poor run of form in which his side have won just once in their last four matches.

Barron has been a rare positive for Clement amid a woeful season and will likely outlast his manager at the club given the precarious situation that the Belgian finds himself in.

The fee that was imposed on the Gers is probably fair and could have been worse given how impressive he has been this campaign.
