Rangers sack decision: Philippe Clement fights to save job before Celtic

Philippe Clement is fighting to save his job at Rangers, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist shared the update as the Bears limped to a 2-2 draw against Motherwell at Fir Park on 29 December.

It means the Belgian is clinging on at Ibrox ahead of the next Old Firm showdown against Celtic on 2 January, with a 14-point gap between the teams already.

Rangers to sack Philippe Clement?

This cannot go on any longer, with the Belgian proving he simply isn’t the man for the job.

You can argue about injuries and a lack of investment in your squad, but when you start players like Kieran Dowell and Cyriel Dessers against Motherwell, you are asking for it.

Both of those players have hardly featured recently, and to leave Vaclav Cerny and Hamza Igamane on the bench is a disgrace.

Whether or not there is risk of injuries, you simply have to start your best players.

Fraser Thornton and Patrick Stewart must now show they have the steel about them to make big decisions like this ahead of another Old Firm derby.

Clement could get embarrassed against Brendan Rodgers if he plays a similar way to what he did against St Mirren and Motherwell, and his exit could rejuvenate the squad.

The time for excuses has passed, there is now no other choice but to sack the manager.

In other Rangers news, Clement has been blasted for a request he made to journalists at a press conference.
