Kris Boyd in disbelief at what Rangers players did at full-time v Motherwell
Rangers were slammed by Kris Boyd after the players went over to the away supporters following the draw with Motherwell.
Hamza Igamane’s double off the bench recovered Gers from two goals down at the break to claim a 2-2 draw from Fir Park on Sunday [29 December], in the final game before 2025 opens with an Old Firm clash with Celtic at Ibrox [2 January].
The supporters in the away end were less than complimentary, many booing Philippe Clement and his team having failed to take all three points following an horrendous first half, with a stunning team selection from the manager.
Boyd, speaking live on Sky Sports [29 December, 17:03pm], questioned why the players did not head straight down the tunnel at full-time.
“I’ve never understood this. Never understood it. Cup finals, if you win things, go over and celebrate,” the former Ibrox frontman complained.
“But after a league game, just go down the tunnel.”
Rangers can only salvage point v Motherwell
Rangers suffered from a self-destructive first 45 minutes at Fir Park as Clement’s shock team selection completely backfired.
Heart & Hand Podcast were among those left open-mouthed when the Belgian announced seven changes with a possible motive of resting and conserving his squad, claiming it would be either “genius or insanity”.
Brave it certainly was, but genius it was far from. Igamane, whose form has been a driving factor behind a more stable run over the past couple of months at Ibrox, was introduced from the bench to save his team.
And even that came via more luck than judgement after Motherwell were denied a third at 2-1 when ex-Celtic striker Tony Watt saw his goal chalked off.

Igamane and Vaclav Cerny, who were thrown on at the interval to solve the two-goal deficit, showed why they are usually regulars in Clement’s starting XI, with Cyriel Dessers and Kieran Dowell not covering themselves in any glory on their starting chance.
Brendan Rodgers’ side visit Ibrox for the next derby now 14 points clear in the Scottish Premiership, having won their last two by a 4-0 scoreline. And the Rangers fans expect a massively improved performance in Govan.
