Rangers told to sack Philippe Clement amid delaying the inevitable verdict
David Edgar has told Rangers to sack Philippe Clement after they drew 2-2 with Motherwell in their Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday.
The Gers were 2-0 down in the first 45 minutes and it wasn’t until Hamza Igamane entered the fold that the Ibrox outfit started to turn things in their favour.
Writing via his personal X account (29 December), Edgar shared his thoughts on where the future of Clement should lie after the Gers’ performance against the Steelmen.
“Well done to our two decent players Igamane and Cerny for getting us a point on their own. The goalkeeper and back four should give them their wage after that,” he wrote.
“We’re going nowhere under Clement. He needs to go. Feels like it’s just delaying the inevitable”.
Philippe Clement is once again on borrowed time at Rangers
Since the very start of the season, Clement’s future has been brought under scrutiny by fans and pundits alike.
While things seemed to be getting better over the last six weeks or so, thanks to the injury crisis they’re going through and the Belgian’s need to change his team around in one way or another at the start of each game, it feels like everything is going back to square one.
Now that they’ve dropped points to the Steelmen, any slim title hopes they still had are now in tatters and their focus will likely switch from the league now as the gap to the top has been extended to 14 points.
Unless Clement can find a way to shore up his defensive ranks or source some money from the back of his sofa to fund new arrivals in January, it’s hard to see how it’s ever going to get better under the 50-year-old.
Which is why some tough decisions will likely have to be made by Patrick Stewart and Co. in the near future.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have been accused of playing the victim as the next Ibrox casualty is mooted.
