Rangers accused of playing victim card as next Ibrox ‘casualty’ mooted
Rangers are guilty of having a “blame culture” at Ibrox, according to Hugh Keevins.
The veteran sportswriter accused the Light Blues of playing the victim card after they raised questions over the refereeing in their Scottish League Cup final defeat against Celtic on 15 December.
He also tipped Philippe Clement to lose his job soon as he is unable to break-free from the “culture of failure” in Govan.
“Rangers in general, and the Belgian in particular, suffer from cultural difficulties”, Keevins wrote in his column on Daily Record’s website on Sunday, 29 December.
“The club is too caught up in a blame culture off the park which makes them play the victim card whenever anything goes wrong, such as the loss of the Premier Sports Cup final to Celtic on December 15.
“And Clement is on his way to becoming the latest casualty of the culture of failure on the park which has lasted for over a decade and created a managerial merry go round at Ibrox as a consequence.”
Rangers form crash after loss v St. Mirren, Philippe Clement under pressure
The Gers had a good run of form for seven games, starting with their 4-1 win against Nice in the UEFA Europa League.
They managed to reduce the gap with Celtic to nine points in that period, but it all came crashing down like Jenga blocks when they lost 2-1 to St. Mirren on Boxing Day (Thursday, 26 December).
Celtic have, therefore, gone 12 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
They could extend the lead further if they beat Clement’s side at Ibrox on Thursday, 2 January.
Clement is not under serious threat of being sacked after losing against St. Mirren [Andy Newport], but things could change if they suffer another defeat against Celtic.

Meanwhile, the Bears need to make sure they do not drop any more points when they travel to Motherwell on Sunday (29 December).
The next two games could ultimately determine Clement’s future with the Glasgow giants, so there is no room for error.
