Dessers stinks again, Igamane hero – Rangers player ratings v Motherwell

Hamza Igamane was the hero as Rangers came from behind to play out a 2-2 draw with Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.

The Light Blues were trailing by two goals when they went into the half-time break after goals from Apostolos Stamatelopoulous and Tawanda Maswanhise gave the hosts the lead, although under controversial terms, according to Neil McCann.

However, the visitors got back into the game after Philippe Clement unleashed Vaclav Cerny and Igamane, who bagged a brace, at the start of the second half.

Here, Ibrox News rates each player out of 10.

Jack Butland – 4

Butland should have done better to save Stamatelopoulous’ opener and had two let-offs in the second half as Motherwell had two goals disallowed. He did not cover himself in glory on those occasions.

James Tavernier – 5

Could have perhaps done better for Maswanhise’s goal, but did nothing wrong otherwise.

Dujon Sterling – 5

Sterling was guilty of poor defending in the leadup to Stamateloupoulos’ goal, but grew in stature as the game went on, although he was booked in the closing stages.

Robin Propper unconvincing for Rangers

Robin Propper – 4

Booked early on in the game for a foul on Tawanda Maswanhise and should have done better in the lead-up to Stamateloupoulos’ goal. Not only did his initial header give the ball away in a dangerous position, he also briefly stopped playing to appeal for a handball. Got better later.

Ridvan Yilmaz – 6

Yilmaz was an energetic presence at left-back and almost set up Cyriel Dessers for an early goal with a splendid cross. He eventually provided the assist for Igamane’s second.

Mohamed Diomande (Off for Nedim Bajrami 90′) – 5

Diomande was a presence in midfield, but did nothing of note.

Nico Raskin – 7

Unlike Diomande, Raskin was heavily involved and also pulled the strings for Rangers in attack at times.

Kieran Dowell (Off for Vaclav Cerny 46′) – 5

Could hardly make an impact as the Gers fell two goals behind in the first half and was subsequently substituted at half-time.

Danilo – 7

Danilo was an influential figure for the Gers up front despite not being involved in the goals. Had an attempt come off the woodwork.

Oscar Cortes (Off for Rabbi Matondo 74′) – 6

Caused headaches to the Motherwell defenders with his dribbling at times and was heavily involved in duels

Cyriel Dessers awful

Cyriel Dessers (Off for Hamza Igamane 46′) – 3

Missed two big chances during the 45 minutes he was on the pitch and squandered the chance to stake his claim to a regular place in the starting XI.

Substitutes

Vaclav Cerny (On for Dowell 46′) – 8

Made a massive difference after coming on and was really important to earning a point at Fir Park

Hamza Igamane (On for Dessers 46′) – 9 Man of the Match

Made an instant impact off the bench, halving the deficit less than five minutes into the second half and scoring the equaliser 18 minutes later.

Rabbi Matondo (On for Cortes 74′) – 5

Nedim Bajrami (On for Diomande 90′) – NA
