Ianis Hagi embarrasses himself after what he did in St Mirren v Rangers

Ianis Hagi had a night to forget after what he was spotted doing as Rangers crashed to a 2-1 defeat at St Mirren on Boxing Day.

The Gers travelled to Paisley on 26 December in hopes of keeping pace with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, but instead, the Old Firm rivals are now 12 points ahead of Philippe Clement.

Danilo brought parity to the fixture at the hour mark after cancelling out Oisin Smyth’s first-half penalty, and it seemed like the Light Blues would go on to win it.

Eventually, it was the hosts who grabbed a late winner, with Coalan Boyd-Munce finding the back of the net with a brilliant strike, beating Jack Butland, who put in one of his worst performances in a Bears shirt.

Ianis Hagi premature his Rangers celebration v St Mirren

As Danilo found the back of the net, the Romanian turned to the home fans during his celebration, seemingly mocking them.

But the Saints faithful had the last laugh as they snatched the three points in the dying minutes of the fixture, leaving Hagi embarrassed and the home fans chanting at him.

Rangers have done well since the return of the 26-year-old playmaker to the starting lineup, but his actions after the equaliser were a bit premature.

Clement made a few errors during the game, not starting Nicolas Raskin being one of them, and the Belgian has undone all the good work of recent weeks.

The Light Blues can’t let the loss dwindle their confidence, though, as some crucial games are coming up after the New Year where Hagi can become that star man once again.

In other Rangers news, one incident from the St Mirren loss needs to be outlawed, according to Keith Hackett.
