Rangers ace Jack Butland destroyed in St Mirren clash – ‘Ridiculous’
David Edgar has slammed Rangers and Jack Butland for the performance against St Mirren on Boxing Day.
The Heart and Hand podcast host expressed on X after the first half that he was disappointed with Butland for the concession of the first goal on 26 December at Paisley.
Gers went into half-time 1-0 down and the game ended 2-1 in favour of St Mirren with Caolon Boyd-Munce scoring the winner after Danilo equalised.
Edgar wrote: “That was dreadful. Created absolutely nothing and a riot at the back, topped off by a ridiculous bit of goalkeeping.”
Rangers had an awful start v St Mirren
Edgar was absolutely spot on, it was indeed a shambolic first half from Gers.
While they dominated possession, they failed to create anything telling in the final third and it was clear changes were needed.
What Clement did at half time was bring on Danilo and Nico Raskin – two players capable of turning things around.
He took off Nedim Bajrami, who had a woeful first half, and it’s no surprise that performances improved in the second half.
Danilo’s arrival paid off instantly and he found the back of the net to level things up for Gers.
However, poor defending is what eventually cost the team and they failed to get anything from the game.
