Gabby Agbonlahor hits back at ‘Harsh’ Rangers comment made live on talkSPORT
Gabby Agbonlahor has hit back at a “harsh” Rangers and Celtic comment made by Jason Cundy live on talkSPORT.
Speaking on the radio station‘s Christmas Dinner special [25 December], as transcribed by the Daily Record [26 December], presenter Shebahn Aherne raised the topic of the Glasgow duo joining the Premier League one day.
Cundy responded by saying it would be the equivalent of putting a side like Barnsley in the division.
Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor disagreed with that remark, though, saying: “That’s harsh, Cundy.”
Rangers and Celtic Premier League debate is tiresome
This is a topic that is raised regularly and the replies are always the same. The bottom line is that this is purely a hypothetical situation.
As showed against Tottenham earlier this month, the Gers can more than hold their own against elite English opposition.
Whether they could compete in the higher reaches of the division is another question, but on the basis of the first four months of this season, that is unlikely.
That said, the Bears have finally managed to find some stability over the past few weeks – the controversial cup final loss aside – and a corner has been turned.

Philippe Clement will now be eager to get three more points on the board against St Mirren on Thursday (26 December) to ensure the Gers’ slim title hopes remain intact for a while longer.
And as for Cundy’s assertion that Barnsley are on a par with Rangers, well it’s fair to say he’s rightly earned his reputation as being a wind-up merchant.
