Philippe Clement may dive into transfer market after Rangers development
Philippe Clement could be forced to dive into the transfer market after an injury to Rangers defender John Souttar, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reported on 23 December that with the Scotland international being out for weeks, the Belgian may look to bring in another centre-back in January.
Neraysho Kasanwirjo is also out with a long-term injury and there’s a chance he does not return again this season.
Rangers need to be active in the January transfer window
It makes sense for Gers to sign a new centre-back in January.
Robin Propper has struggled to adapt to a new league and while he may come good next season, he seems off the pace currently.
Leon Balogun, while reliable, cannot play games every three days and he’s also past his prime so it’s best to look for someone who could be a long-term fit.
Souttar’s injury does not seem that serious but it’s hard to predict as it will depend on how he responds to his rehab.
Clement himself is not putting a timeframe on his return but the fact that his injury could see the club entering the transfer market means it could be at least a month or two.
Hopefully, Nils Koppen and co have the right targets in mind and they can then begin work on bringing them to Ibrox on the approval of the manager.

Gers are certainly going to be active in the winter and it remains to be seen whom they end up signing.
In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the club cashing in on Cyriel Dessers in the January transfer window.
