Rangers player ratings v Dundee: Hamza Igamane has a shocker, Cerny the saviour

Rangers defeated Dundee 1-0 at Ibrox in Saturday’s Scottish Premiership clash.

The Light Blues didn’t make many changes to their starting lineup on 21 December as Tony Docherty’s team made their way to Glasgow.

Jack Butland had to withdraw before the start of the fixture and was replaced by Liam Kelly in between the sticks, who made his first start for the Gers.

Vaclav Cerny found the back of the net early in the second half, and the Glaswegian outfit were unable to score more despite having some brilliant opportunities.

Here, Ibrox News rates each home player out of 10.

Liam Kelly — 6

Was relatively steady in between the sticks and wasn’t threatened much by the Dundee attackers. The shot-stopper had a few wobbly moments with his distribution, but nothing too serious.

James Tavernier — 8

Having regained his place in the starting lineup, the captain has been consistent for the Bears. He contributed both defensively and in attack, putting in some impressive crosses, but none of his teammates got to the end of them.

Dujon Sterlin — 7

Playing in at centre-back once again, the defender hasn’t looked out of place and was solid against the Dark Blues., making crucial tackles and winning his duels.

Robin Propper — 4

The Dutchman was comfortable with the ball at his feet, but struggled when defending, giving away fouls and mistiming his tackles, which eventually got him in the book.

Jefte — 5

Had a quiet game overall, struggling defensively and unable to contribute much in the final third.

Nicolas Raskin — 6

Kept the ball ticking in the middle of the park and provided the necessary cover to the backline, making some crucial defensive actions.

Mohamed Diomande — 6

The Ibrox faithful expected the Ivorian to pull the strings in the engine room, but he failed to create many opportunities for his teammates Rangers looked toothless.

Ianis Hagi — 8

Put in another encouraging showing, taking on Dundee’s defence and having impressive moments in the game showcasing his skills.

Vaclav Cerny — 9

He was a constant threat down the right-hand side of the Gers’ attack. The Czech scored the solitary goal of the game after a brilliant run and finish before being substituted in the 75th minute.

Danilo — 7

Looked lethargic in the first half, making a mess of his shots, but set up the crucial goal for Cerny just after the break. He was substituted at around the hour mark.

Hamza Igamane — 3

The Moroccan has been brilliant for the Gers in recent weeks but failed to make an impact at Ibrox against Docherty’s team, being dispossessed several times and was guilty of a shocker when missing a glorious chance in the second half.
