Rangers should sell Cyriel Dessers in the upcoming transfer window if the opportunity arises, Craig Moore says.

The Nigeria international has been linked with Saint-Etienne ahead of January [Le10sport, 18 December], and the Gers have been urged to cash in now.

Philippe Clement doesn't count on the 30-year-old [Soccernet.ng, 6 December], and the Light Blues have been told to focus on signing a different number nine and a centre-back in the coming month.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show [17 December], Moore said: "If there's an opportunity for Dessers, in terms of him moving on, I would certainly look to explore something like that.

"Another striker is definitely required that can be guaranteed to bang goals away. To work from the front. I'd love to see another centre-back that's got speed."

Rangers need to sell Cyriel Dessers in January

Dessers has recently lost his starting spot, so it wouldn't be surprising if he wanted to leave in January.

Clement risks souring the mood in the dressing room if he sticks with a potentially unhappy number nine in his squad.

The Nigerian will surely want to be the first name on the team sheet if he stays, and with the emergence of Hamza Igamane and Danilo, that looks unlikely.

Rangers have found their talisman in the Moroccan, with the 22-year-old flourishing since being handed regular game time.

Clement has bigger things to worry about and can't be forced to massage egos going into the second half of the season.

Dessers has rightfully been benched after several underwhelming displays, and the 30-year-old can have no complaints about his situation.

If the Nigerian were to leave, the Light Blues should consider bringing another striker to Ibrox to add depth up top.

Another central defender is also definitely needed after John Souttar pulled up with another injury, with incomings on the agenda within weeks.
