SNP politician takes dig at Rangers after Celtic defeat
SNP politician James Dornan, who is a Celtic supporter, believes that their beating Rangers on Sunday was never in doubt.
Gers suffered a penalty shootout loss against the Hoops in the Scottish League Cup final at Hampden Park.
After 90 minutes and then 120 minutes, the scoreline was 3-3 meaning only penalties could pick a winner on 15 December.
Via X, Dornan wrote: “Never in doubt.”
However, after the first half, with Celtic down 1-0, he was not overly confident.
He wrote: “Hopefully they wake up in the second half. I would have played Engels in place of Hatate and how he makes that change now. Having said that he’s not alone in being terrible today.”
Rangers came very close to beating Celtic on Sunday
Dornan’s confidence appears to be coming from nowhere as his team nearly suffered a defeat in the final.
There was a clear-cut penalty not given to Gers and had that been awarded, it would’ve been 4-3 to Philippe Clement’s side.
Gers were undoubtedly the better team in the first half and showed great resolve to come back from a goal down on two occasions.
There are plenty of positives to take from that one and Clement will have learnt that his players are capable of taking the best team in the country to the distance.
A few good signings and Gers could actually mount a title challenge – something which would’ve seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago.
Whether or not that happens, remains to be seen, as there’s just so much chaos ongoing behind the scenes.
