Rangers fans ’embarrassment’ after new footage dropped v Celtic
Rangers and Celtic so-called ultras groups were an “embarrassment” ahead of the Premier Sports Cup final, Tom English says.
The Gers took on Brendan Rodgers’ team at Hampden Park on Sunday [15 December], with footage showing fans from both teams clashing before the fixture.
English was impressed with the action on the pitch as it ended 3-3 after extra time, with the Bhoys getting over the line in the penalty shootout.
The BBC Scotland journalist wasn’t too pleased about some of the actions of the supporters, though, and wants them to be punished, writing on his X account [15 December]: “Great final today.
“Huge drama. Tremendous advert for the game here. Alas, the behaviour of these clownish ultras groups on both sides was an embarrassment.
“Wee idiots acting like hard men. It’s getting worse, and it’s about time the clubs and the league sorted it out.”

The Bears can be proud of their overall performance, taking the lead in the first half after dominating their Old Firm rivals.
Going into the game, not many had expectations from Philippe Clement’s team, who are 11 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership after a poor start to the season.
The Gers have turned the tide recently and took points away from Tottenham with a 1-1 draw in the Europa League at Ibrox on 12 December.
Rangers slipped up after going into the break a goal up, but the second half saw a comeback from the Hoops before the Light Blues put up a fight and took the game all the way.
The Gers were unable to retain their status as champions, but they’ve set themselves up well for the rest of the campaign.
While the Europa League might be a trophy the Bears won’t be the favourites to lift, the Ibrox faithful will have renewed hope after what they saw their team do at Hampden.
