Rangers v Celtic – Shocking footage emerges ahead of Scottish League Cup final
Rangers take on Celtic at Hampden Park later on Sunday and footage has emerged of a skirmish between fans and the police.
Ahead of the Scottish League Cup final on 15 December, the Scottish Sun shared photos of the “ugly” situation and stated that a masked Gers fan squared up to the police outside Glasgow Central Station.
Edinburgh News’ Barry Anderson then reposted the footage on X which was shared a couple of hours ahead of the Old Firm derby kicking off.
Rangers v Celtic is a game always marred by controversy
The footage is undoubtedly disturbing and it’s hard to have an Old Firm without there being controversy.
It’s no secret that both sets of fans do not get along, but things should never escalate to violence and matters should be sorted on the field of play.
Both clubs may announce statements if things do get out of hand and nobody involved will want that.
It’s a cup final, an Old Firm derby and that’s what the majority of supporters on both sides will be looking forward to.
Hopefully, Philippe Clement’s baffling decision to start James Tavernier does not backfire, given his struggles in the past against Daizen Maeda.
Dujon Sterling would’ve been the more defensively sound option but Clement felt he needs his captain in the eleven.
In other Rangers news, David Edgar has issued a claim as the club have made yet another behind-the-scenes change.
